The Director is the Nominated Supervisor who takes on legal and day to day responsibility for managing the preschool. The Director is accountable to the management committee and is directly responsible for compliance. The Director also manages WHS, staffing, advocacy, professional development, waiting list, funding applications, policies and the quality improvement plan. The Director works cooperatively with the committee and educators to ensure the preschool philosophy is met through adequate resources, training, routines and meeting the needs of the community.
Kate also has post graduate qualifications and experience working with children with additional needs and is able to guide and support children and families with concerns around their child’s development, the assessment process, early intervention, behaviour management and supports, developing Individual Education Plans (ILP), referrals to Allied Health Services, and transition to school.
The Educational Leader supports all educators to plan and implement a program based on the Early Years Learning Framework. This is achieved through a team approach to observing individual strengths, interests and needs, then planning experiences and opportunities of individuals within a group context. Each child’s participation and progress towards the EYLF learning outcomes is reported to you through photos, emails, planned meetings and written summaries. The Educational Leader mentors educators in child development theory and educational program and practices.
Rachel is a proud Wandi Wandian woman from the Yuin Nation on the South Coast of NSW. Rachel was born in Nowra and has grown up here most of her life. Rachel has strong ties to the local community through her Grandfather Eddie Bloxsome who was born at Wreck Bay and her great, great Grandmother Chrsitina Bloxsome who was born at Culunghutti Mountain, which is a place of significant importance.
The role of the Aboriginal Cultural Leader is to empower Aboriginal children to be strong in their cultural identity, to support educators to embed Aboriginal perspectives into our preschool program and practices, and to create a safe, respectful and inclusive space for all children and their families.
